The BVRA Gala- A Mad Hatter's Ball

The Buffalo Valley Recreation Authority is the Lewisburg area’s nonprofit ‘parks & rec’ department, and for the past four years, The Cellars has been hosting their annual fundraising gala. We love supporting our local community- from the park and community pool to gymnastics programs for every age, BVRA is a worthy cause! Not to mention the amazing crowd and party they bring to The Cellars every year, choosing a fun theme for guests to take as far as they desire. Past themes included Gatsby and masquerade, so we knew to expect a similar theme for 2019.

In the past, we have had so much fun creating the perfect tablescapes and decor for each area of The Cellars to showcase the theme, and this year was by far the most transformative. The theme was A Mad Hatter’s Ball or, Alice in Wonderland. The Cellars staff had a brainstorming session where we decided to decorate the lounge area as a garden party for cocktail hour, and then have guests travel through the rabbit hole into the banquet room for dinner and dancing. We also decided to create 23 completely different centerpieces and table linens, modeled after each character and theme in Alice in Wonderland. We worked hard to design a whimsical and fun atmosphere that would truly transport guests to wonderland as they gazed around the room.

Dinner by Ard’s Farm catering consisted of several stations where guests could choose from ‘tiny’ foods just like in Wonderland. Bite size finger foods such as stuffed mushrooms and rosemary chicken bites lent a fun and whimsical touch even to dinner service, and added stations of mini-fajitas and slider sandwiches gave guests even more of a variety. The event overall was an incredible success, and we are so excited to be able to share some photos with you!
